Legendary basketball player and entrepreneur, Earvin “Magic”
Johnson has launched a TV network! ASPiRE TV is a new network offering African
American programming featuring films, documentaries, comedies, visual and
performing arts and inspirational shows, including its original series, ARiSE.
As it continues building its roster of original programming it’s currently
serving up classic nostalgia with shows like Julia, I Spy and The Flip Wilson Show.
The ASPiRE network is “grounded in faith, family and community”,
and is distributed by Comcast. It launched to millions of viewers today!
This
is a monumental achievement not only for Johnson, but for the African American community,
and all viewers who would like additional options in programming that speak to
and reflect the positive aspects of the black community.
Wow! Johnson has joined the ranks of Cathy Hughes and Oprah Winfrey
as black media moguls with their own networks! That is huge, and I’m excited!
